The agency added, "With flydubai's daily flights to Istanbul Airport (IST), the company will increase the number of its flights to the city to 12 flights per week."

Flydubai's destinations in Turkey include the capital, Ankara, where it operates two flights per week.

"Istanbul remains a popular destination on our network," said Jehun Effendi, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-Commerce at flydubai.

"We welcome the resumption of our operations at Sabiha Gokcen Airport, an airport that provides another convenient option for travelers to Istanbul," he added.

Flydubai's decision comes the day after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to the UAE, the first since 2013.

Erdogan's visit to the UAE follows the visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Turkey on November 24, 2021, which witnessed the signing of many agreements, especially in the economic aspect.
